The Members:
Arlene “Bunny” ConradWhen Arlene “Bunny” Conrad sat in her elementary school classroom, she was inspired to become a Lutheran teacher, just like her teachers. From then on she worked, saved, studied and planned for one career, to be a Lutheran school teacher.
She enrolled in Concordia Teacher’s College, River Forest, Illinois, to fulfill her goal. Challenged by finances, she sacrificed sleep in order to work multiple jobs and spend long hours in study. She was awarded a small scholarship that provided relief from the demands of work intruding on her studies. Additionally, the scholarship gave her confidence to continue as the trials loomed, for she would remember that others stood with her, providing money, encouragement and prayers. In praise to God our Father; our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and motivated by the Holy Spirit the Cohrs Family Church Worker Endowment Fund is established to honor her work for the Kingdom. |
Carol Williams One dream Carol Williams had as a little girl was to be a pastor. She listened attentively to the words of her pastor as he offered insights, knowledge and inspiration from the Scripture. Life intruded and Carol put her plans to follow her heart on hold for the more practical matters of being a wife and mother.
Then came a day that would forever change her life, her husband filed for divorce. Carol searched for a way to fulfill her dream, not of being a pastor (not possible in The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod), but to be a professional church worker. She was accepted into Concordia, Ann Arbor, into the Parish Assistant Program. The challenges of working, being a mother and a full-time student led to long hours and stress. She was awarded a small scholarship that not only gave her some financial relief, but provided affirmation that she would prevail. In praise to God our Father; our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and motivated by the Holy Spirit the Cohrs Family Church Worker Endowment Fund is established to honor her work for the Kingdom. |
Richard CohrsWhen Richard Cohrs was in the fifth grade he wanted to be a teacher. He was committed to doing all that he needed in order to be a teacher. When he was in high school his pastor challenged him with the words, “You would make a good pastor.” Those words set him on a career path to be a professional church worker.
Richard enrolled in Concordia Teacher’s College, River Forest, Illinois, with the goal of becoming a pastor. However, he found that life as a Lutheran school teacher and principal provided him a way to serve the church best suited to his gifts. Facing doubts about his career path, he was awarded a small scholarship. He was inspired to work harder as he knew others believed in him, supported him and prayed for him. In praise to God our Father; our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and motivated by the Holy Spirit the Cohrs Family Church Worker Endowment Fund is established to honor his work for the Kingdom. |
